EXPECTATIONS:

Tumbling is a highly physical sport that requires more than just learning the steps of a skill. An athlete’s progress depends on their strength, coordination, body control, flexibility, consistency, and overall athletic readiness. Being able to support their own body weight, maintain proper shapes and positions, and move with control are key factors in advancing safely and successfully. These physical components develop over time through regular training, conditioning, and repetition both in and out of class. Because every athlete’s body, experience level, and developmental timeline is different, athletes will progress at different speeds. This is completely normal and expected, and our focus is always on building a strong, confident foundation that supports long-term success and injury prevention.

PROGRESS INDICATORS:

The number one predictor of how quickly an athlete progresses in tumbling is their ability to:

  • Support their own body weight on their hands

  • Maintain flexibility required for proper technique and body positions

These two factors directly affect readiness for skills and how efficiently an athlete can move forward in class.

WHAT WE TEACH IN TUMBLING CLASSES:

Our tumbling classes focus on tumbling skills, technique, and body positions. Athletes are taught:

  • Proper tumbling shapes and positions

  • Skill technique and drills

  • Body awareness and control within skills

  • Safe progressions for tumbling development

While some conditioning naturally occurs during class, tumbling class is not a conditioning or strength-training class. The primary focus is learning and refining tumbling skills, not building overall fitness.

ATHLETE READINESS & PHYSICAL PREPARATION:

An athlete’s physical readiness — including strength, flexibility, and ability to support their own body — plays a major role in how quickly skills can be learned. These elements are not fully developed through tumbling class alone and often require additional training.

Because of this, many athletes benefit from conditioning outside of tumbling class to progress more efficiently and safely. Consistency, effort, and overall fitness directly impact results.

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING SUPPORT

To support athlete development, we offer child conditioning classes designed to build:

  • Core and upper-body strength

  • Shoulder stability and hand support

  • Flexibility and mobility

  • Balance, coordination, and endurance

These classes are strongly recommended for athletes who want to improve readiness and see stronger results in tumbling.

TINY TUMBLING AGES 3-5:

Tiny Tumbling is a developmental class designed to introduce young athletes to movement, structure, and the gym environment in a positive and age-appropriate way.

While we introduce basic tumbling skills, a major focus of Tiny Tumbling is social and behavioral development, including:

  • Following directions

  • Listening to and respecting rules

  • Taking coach instruction and applying it

  • Waiting turns and participating appropriately

  • Interacting positively with peers

These skills are just as important as physical skills at this age and help prepare athletes for future classes and team environments.

Progress in Tiny Tumbling looks different for every child. Growth may be seen in confidence, focus, listening, and social interaction — not just physical skills. This is all part of healthy development.

OVERALL:

  • Progress varies from athlete to athlete

  • Enrollment does not guarantee specific skills

  • Tumbling classes teach skills and technique, not full conditioning programs

  • Strength, flexibility, and readiness affect how quickly skills are learned

  • Tiny Tumbling focuses heavily on social, listening, and participation skills

Our priority across all classes is safety, proper development, confidence, and long-term success. Enrollment in classes does not guarantee specific skills or progress within a set time frame.
